Pre-Madness ๐ Recs + Return of K. Reay!
Hello my friends. Those of you who have been with me for a while know that March is the month when I catch up on all the best NCAA basketball teams because soon it will be here โ March Madness! My dad was not just a huge sports fan, he was a basketball coach, and I have very specific and happy memories of watching games together. So, every year, the month of March both pings my heart and makes it swell. Iโm nearly certain I scored my first real job because I spoke all things sports with the hiring partner, who couldnโt believe that I could. I could talk some pretty serious game because over the years Iโd literally ingested deep sports thinks via my Dadโs constant analysis โ the soundtrack of my childhood. Thanks, Dad!
So, Iโm bulking up on reading this week before the Big Ten Tournament begins (yes, Wendy Durkin your Purdue beat my Illini last night, but just you wait), and hereโs a one-take video of whatโs on my pile. Call or email if one catches your eye and we will set that book aside.
Oh, and friends, we are so excited to host Evanston author Katherine Reay once again to speak about her new book in a few weeks. This time, sheโs penned The Berlin Letters โ a gripper about a CIA code breaker during the Cold War who risks everything to free her father from an East German prison. We always sell out because she not only tells a great story but is fascinating in describing her writing process. The five-dollar fee will be credited to you for purchases; we only charge it to make sure we know how many chairs to put out.
Happy reading, friends.
