Cooking Demo: "Heart of the Home" SOLD OUT!

Tucker and I have the most wonderful plans for a winter January afternoon of Susan Branch inspiration.

You guys, oh my gosh. Susan Branch wrote and designed a breakthrough cookbook called “Heart of the Home” nearly 30 years ago, and it was such a knock out she published a dozen more.  Her style is cozy and personal, with sweet suggestions and personal asides -- all framed by her very own watercolor images of happy cooking and amazing home-cooked food.  We can’t wait to make Blueberry Corn Cakes, which she insists you have “so you will be fortified to go out and play in the snow,” and Hearty Dinner Stew with Buttered Noodles, “a cozy stew for a chilly night.”  We will pair her Heart of the Home cookbook with recipes and book discussion from her memoir, “Martha’s Vineyard:  Isle of Dreams,” about the year she spent writing “Heart of the Home.”  Her memoir is a stand-out not just because she is a great writer with a fascinating tale to tell, but also because she interweaves recipes (such as Homemade Marshmallows with Hot Cocoa) in a scrapbook approach with hand-painted imagery, and old photos, and charming quotes. Read her memoir, and come hungry for this come-in-from-the-cold charmer of an event.
